Magic Share Christmas Memories
There are only five shopping days left until Christmas, and you can feel the holiday spirit in the air. We recently caught up with some of the Magic players who chimed in on their Christmas wishes, gift ideas and fondest memories.
Magic Guard Keyon Dooling
What does Keyon Dooling want for Christmas?“All I want for Christmas is to go to Ft. Lauderdale and have a nice family dinner. I love to see my kids open up their gifts, enjoy my parents, my wife, my wife’s parents and just get together and have a great time. I’ll also look forward to getting back to work the next day.”
What is your favorite part of the holiday?
“I would have to say Christmas morning. When the kids wake up at about seven a.m. like it’s a school morning but it’s not and just seeing the excitement in their eyes when they open their gifts. It brings back your childhood innocence. I remember vividly being in their place and being able to provide things for them during this time is a special feeling.”
Do you remember the best gift that you ever received?
“Yeah, I already had the Nintendo but I didn’t have Techmo Bowl. So Techmo Bowl was my most prized possession until Techmo Bowl II came out!”
Magic Forward-Center Dwight Howard
What do you want for Christmas?“Grant Hill to stay healthy and Jameer to get back onto the floor.”
Can you remember one particular gift you received that stands out?
“My grandmother gave me a thermal shirt one time. It’s funny though because as kids we get gifts that we need but really don’t want sometimes. We always want toys or gadgets but it seems we always get something practical instead. For example, socks.”
What’s your favorite part of the Christmas holiday?
“Celebrating the birth of Christ.”
Magic Head Coach Brian Hill
What do you enjoy about the holiday season? “Just being with my family and spending time with them. I also enjoy all the great food that my wife cooks! Christmas is a time to reflect on what it’s all about, which to me is the birth of Christ. It’s also a time to reflect on what you’re thankful for, which I have a lot to be thankful for. It’s just a special time to be with your family.”
What’s on your Christmas wish list this year?
“I would like to see nothing but wins going into Christmas and nothing but wins coming out of Christmas. I’d be very thankful to Santa if he could do that.”
Magic Forward Pat Garrity
What do you wish for this Christmas Pat? “Just that my family stays healthy. That’s the only thing I really wish for, that my son continues to stay healthy and is a happy kid. That’s kind of all I’ve got.”
What does Henry, your son, want for Christmas this year?
“Well he already sees the box, it’s a baby basketball hoop. It’s in the garage, so he sees it, points and says, ‘Hoop.’ Technically he knows what he’s getting, but I don’t know if he realizes it’s for Christmas yet.”
While the Magic players and coaches have a variety of wishes for Christmas one is consistent – a healthy team. So from the Orlando Magic to you, have a happy and healthy holiday – and we’ll do the same!
